The
New Year has come and time seems to be going
very rapidly, we are already entering February.
For many of us, January is the month of renewal,
regrouping , a time to bring change, reconnect,
and set new goals. Beginning to put the last
year behind us, to create new, to forgive
and to let go. A new understanding comes about
and forgiving those in our lives that have
lack of awareness. This is another opportunity
to break through the illusion of life, and
to be in the world not of the world. It seems
that every month comes with a remembrance
of a holiday. Some say that it is commercialism
to shop, to get busy , to give presents, I
feel we can turn this around and make it a
spiritual experience to awaken your love at
a deeper level to the divine self. February-
Saint Valentine’s. It is a good time
for you this holiday to get closer to your
children, grandchildren, friends, and to express
your love and gratitude.. It is not what we
give to each other, but how we feel about
each other. Be present with your love ones
and spend quality time with them.
The
Story of Saint Valentine
There
are many stories about Saint Valentine dating
back to the third century AD. Some historians
say he was a Christian man that did not want
to give up his faith and became a martyr ,
a priest in Rome , possibly a bishop. He empathized
for young people in love, helping young men
and women to get married. When the Roman empire
was out to conquer the world, and their legions
needed soldiers to be drafted in the military
service, he would marry them to avoid the
draft. Emperor Claudius the second decreed
that nobody could be engaged or married due
to the fact that he felt that men that were
married did not make good men for the military,
so he banned marriage all together. The loving,
kind priest Valentine openly defied the emperor’s
wishes and married couples by candlelight
in cellars, and private homes. Valentine’s
actions were very upsetting to the Emperor
but he continued what was true to him. Claudius
discovered his illegal activities. He first
tried to convert the priest into paganism
and spoke with him about the importance of
war. He
refused and said to the emperor that his passion
for God was more important., and that his
job as a priest was a message from God. Immediately
after his defiance he was put in jail, yet
he continued do wedding ceremonies for his
visitor’s secretly. During this time,
many Christians that visited him were persecuted
and killed. The visitor’s convinced
the jailor of Saint Valentine’s sincerity
and how he was truly committed to young lovers,
and his concern for young men at war. The
jailor had a beautiful daughter that was blind,
and upon hearing of the love of young people
his desire was to see his daughter married.
So he brought his daughter to Valentine saying
to him, if you heal my daughter I will work
with the emperor for your release. Valentines
reply was “my duty is to bring healing
to others, Gods will, will be done”,
and he began to pray over the jailors daughter
asking him to join in prayer. A miraculous
divine healing took place, her sight was restored,
the father began to work extremely hard for
the freedom of the Saint in exchange for this
miraculous deed. The jailor however had no
luck freeing Saint Valentine. People continued
to come to the cell to be healed and be married.
Claudius became threatened by the Saint’s
divine gift and sent him to be executed. Valentine
was beheaded on February 14, before his death
he sent a note to the beautiful daughter of
the jailor, with love from your Valentine.

In Rome the
same day, there was a pagan festival called
Luperkala., Valentines execution being one
of the activities, part of the entertainment
for the day. On this day the Roman young men
drew names of young ladies to get romantic
dates. This tradition was part in honor of
the goddess Juno Februcala . The Christian
church used the day of Valentine’s execution
to make him a Saint. Through the ages traditions
have continued to celebrate Saint Valentine’s
day . The most important part of this story
is to fight for what we believe, and remember
to honor our loved ones, particularly in the
moment , not just Valentines day. Valentines
day doesn’t have to be expensive, it
could be a handmade card, a massage , cookies,
an essential oil bath, a perfume or aftershave
for loved ones, foot massage , a candlelight
dinner, a poem or a prayer. Another personal
idea associated with Saint Valentines is a
mischievous child armed with a bow ready to
perceive the hearts of lovers from the word
in Latin , cupid, meaning desire. Originally
from the Sanskrit
word kup, which means to become agitated,
passed on to Slavic, called kupit to boil
with emotion. Make this day a remembrance
of your loved ones.

Continue
to shine your light unto others.
The red color of valentines represents the
day of Saint Valentine’s massacre. First
chakra, red for passion , and affection of
his human heart. Pink for love and kindness.
White for purity and the crown chakra. Like
most holidays, it is about love and thinking
of others and sharing with your deer ones.
February is also the beginning of the mating
season between thousands of species, birds,
mammals, and amphibians, to prepare to give
birth in the spring.
Thank
you all,
Light
and Bryan |
