Ayurveda Guru Kula Program

The Ayurveda Guru Kula Program is devised in two phases, Ayurvedic Lifestyle Coaching (Guru Kula I) and the Ayurvedic Clinical Counselor (Guru Kula II).  Each is an intense 6 month program designed for individuals who have already completed their education as an integrative practitioner or allied healthcare professional (LMT, Acupuncturist, Yoga Instructor, DC, MD, DO) and others looking for a deep understanding of Ayurveda.  This program is designed to integrate the eduction needed to provide Ayurvedic services to communities all over the world!

The mission of this program is to train our most qualified students and prepare them to perform Ayurvedic consultations and offer healing and transformational Ayurvedic lifestyle recommendations.

This unique Ayurvedic Program is the only one of it’s kind in the east coast of the United States.  Taught by Drs. Light and Bryan Miller, who bring an interactive approach to training Ayurvedic Counselors and Lifestyle Coaches, by embracing Ayurveda in their personal lifestyle and passing on their tools with a Naturopathic perspective.  Through their experience over the past 35 years, the Millers have trained over 500 Ayurvedic Counselors and Lifestyle Coaches. Our next Guru Kula I Program in Hollywood, Florida will begin in September 2015.

Who will benefit from the Guru Kula Program?

Those who are already students, healthcare practitioners, teachers, yogis and any perosn looking to utilize the knowledge of Ayurveda to themselves and others.

What is the training cost?

Tuition for the Guru Kula Program Phase I  is $4,500.00 USD.  The Guru Kula Program Phase II is $ 2,500.00 USD. In addition, the course materials (books) are $ 395.00 and $ 60.00 for additional books needed.  Additional fees apply to cover personal meals and lab fees (oils, herbs, etc…).  Returning students will receive a 30% discount on tuition only.

Are there any prerequisites?

It is recommended, but not required, to undergo at least a 5 day Panchakarma treatment.

How many hours can I expect to study?

The program is an intensive 9 month experience.  Hours of study outside the classroom average about 1 to 2 hours per evening .  For level I the classes are every other weekend; 2 weekends a month.  For level II, classes are one weekend a month.  Study groups can be created with other currently enrolled students.  Prior to beginning of the Guru Kula I Program, students must read the correspondence course books.

What will I be trained to do once I am certified?

  1. Determine the body constitution (prakruti) and imbalances (vikruti)
  2. Incorporate Ayurvedic diagnostic techniques (including pulse reading, tongue, and face/Marma Points)
  3. Perform a complete Ayurvedic Consultation
  4. Suggest effective Ayurvedic herbal blends
  5. Create and blend medicinal oils by applying Aromatherapy
  6. Perform body detoxification (liver, cleanse)
  7. Apply Shirodhara
  8. Provide diet guidelines
  9. Cook an Ayurvedic menu
  10. Make appropriate Ayurvedic lifestyle recommendations to overcome health imbalances
  11. Preventative Consultations

 

What happens after program compeltion?

The Ayurvedic College for Well-Being will provide a diploma to the students that complete the program satisfactorily.  Graduates will also be eligible to apply independently for recognition for renowned Ayurvedic associations upon completion.
